My name is Lize Briel
I am a composer and flautist based in South Africa. I am currently doing my Masters’ in Composition at Stellenbosch University under
Mr Arthur Feder and Dr Antoni Schonken.
My musical style has a unique aesthetic and could be considered experimental. I draw inspiration from unconventional sound worlds and enjoy designing intricate music for a wide variety of instrumentations.

Ocean Soundscape: An Installation About Ocean Pollution is aimed at raising awareness about the crisis our oceans face with pollution. By integrating trash into a composition for string quintet and electronics, the music mirrors the pollution of our oceans. Ultimately, this work aims to illustrates that waste has the potential to become a resource, even capable of creating art.
